Every year Penguin run a competition where contestants are asked to redesign one of their classic book covers. I chose to redesign ‘In Cold Blood’ by Truman Capote, which was initially released In January 1966.
The concept behind the cover is one that uses the symbolism of death by the use of lily's, it also refers to the quote "four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six human lives" with the four standing flowers representing the family members that were murdered and the two lying down representing the murderers.
The Typography choice was aimed to be cold and unemotional, reflecting the lack of remorse and emotions shown by the convicted killers.
